Ingredients

Main Produce: 500g (1.1 lbs) fresh green beans or French beans, trimmed

Cooking Oil: 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil or high-heat sesame oil

Aromatics: 4-5 fresh garlic cloves, sliced thin or minced

Citrus: 1 whole lemon, freshly squeezed juice & zest

Flavor Boost: 2 tbsp quality soy sauce or tamari

Crunchy Twist: 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds or slivered toasted almonds (The Special Twist)

Seasonings: Coarse sea salt & freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Prep Beans: Wash the fresh green beans, trim off the stem ends, and pat them thoroughly dry.

Quick Blanch (Optional for Extra Bright Green Color): Boil in salted water for 2 minutes, then immediately shock in ice water. Drain completely.

High-Heat Stir-Fry: Heat olive oil in a wide skillet or wok over high heat. Add the green beans and stir-fry vigorously for 3-4 minutes until blistered and slightly charred on the outside while remaining tender-crisp inside.

Add Flavor & Twist: Lower heat slightly, add thin garlic slices, soy sauce, lemon juice, and zest. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until garlic is fragrant (do not burn).

Garnish & Serve: Toss in the toasted sesame seeds or almonds, transfer to a serving platter, and serve hot or at room temperature alongside BBQ meats or holiday dishes!
